The Stars Are Out!

I've complained about the Oscars before, but I have to state once more that they've seriously lost touch with reality and their audience. It's like they're not even aware of what the general public wants and likes.

Remember back when the Academy Awards used to be elegant, glamorous and spectacular? An event that was magical and glorious?

Like back in 1989?

Pure magic!

(You don't have to watch the whole thing to see how horrible this clip is, but trust me, it builds in wonderful awfulness!)

i made it a minute:05.
did you ever see the song and dance performance of "under the sea"? (*from the year before, i think) not much better.

as for your comments about the oscars and the academy, i'm hoping to have my thoughts up tomorrow.

I recommend skipping up to about 4:10 and watching for a couple of minutes to see the true essence of horrible.

And then make sure to go to just after 8:00 to watch the grand finale with the giant dress and then go to 9:00 to see Lily Tomlin and the shoe lurker.

I look forward to your Oscar thoughts, Jeff.

I know, jo.

I've heard about this fiasco for a while now, but this was my first time actually seeing it!

I was shocked and horrified. . .yet entertained.

Were they trying to relive the "golden age of musicals" or something? Or were they just trying to inspire the next generation of Young Ambassador's?

"Sit back and watch the shoe-I mean show!"
OH OH! YOU KILL ME WITH YOUR PUNNINESS!

I'm surprised the Young Ambassadors haven't done this number.

I'm pretty sure no one will sue because no one will want to claim they own the rights to this.
