Multitasking in the Face of Death

I know I shouldn't text and drive, my wife reminds me of this all the time. But recently I found this test to see how good I am at multitasking.

I didn't do too bad.

My reaction time (on this last test) was 0.35 seconds slower while texting and 5% more gates were missed while texting.

I could probably do better if I tried it again, but I want to give you faithful readers a fighting chance. ;)

Oh, and by the way, I don't think there really is a "Gray Lady." I think they made it up to make me feel like a bad driver.

Good luck!

I had no idea that "The Sorcerer's Stone" is only the American title... everywhere else it's "The Philosopher's Stone". Learned that while looking at the Gray Lady link.

Hmm.

Sorry, I don't text and drive.

THERE.

NO ONE should text and drive. Ever. Whether you're "good at it" or not.

You know, I think that the reason that you originally left this comment on the post below is because you were commenting on my blog while driving!

A-ha!!

I probably shouldn't have done this while sleep-deprived... 0.81 seconds slower, and 30% less gates!!

so, i'm GREAT at texting and driving. i tried your little game. who ARE these people? any NORMAL person, while driving through such hazards wouldnt text and drive at the same time. i mean, how many toll booths are there out here in utah? and why are we driving 100 miles an hour to go through them? (oh, AND changing from lane 1 to 6, ALL at the same time?!)

idiots

It's what my commute is like every day, Jaime. ;)

The Grey Lady is way over on the left side of the road (or at least she was when I played). I think it would be more effective if she were standing in the middle of the road, in danger of being run over.
