We live in a very inconsistent world. The economy is down. Gas prices are up. This year's NBA season didn't happen. The Breaking Dawn movie did happen. However, in a time of turmoil like we have today, it's comforting to know that some things never change. For example, you can always count on the fact that weird people hang out at Walmart. And, once again, this fact is being celebrated by Jessica Frech and her posse.
Remember the original People of Walmart music video? Well, here's round two, sent in by, alert reader, Kim. And, I need to warn you, faithful readers, it is just as horrific as ever.

People Are (Disturbing) People
If you haven't seen the website "People of WalMart" yet, you've been missing out. . .or maybe you haven't. Some of the images you're about to see may never leave your head. It's hard to believe that there are people dressed like this in our fashion-conscious world -- that is, until you actually go to your local WalMart and see it for yourself.
However, for those of us who are quite busy and don't have the time to go traipsing around a website for hours on end, there's a little number by Jessica Frech. This creative young lady took the images from People of WalMart and condensed them into one hilarious video -- sent to me by, alert reader, Bethany. Take a look, but, before you do, I feel like I should give the following disclaimer:

Mysterious Unicorn Music
Faithful readers, I have a quest for you. I was recently sent a unique music video by, alert reader, Mitch and it has me baffled. I don't even know how to present it. So. . .here. . .
Yeah, I know. What WAS that??
As far as I can tell, Unicorns LA was done by a group called My Barbarian and it was NOT done as a comedy. The Wikipedia page for My Barbarian says that they are a trio that "makes site-responsive performances and video installations that use theatrical play to draw allegorical narratives out of historical dilemmas, mythical conflicts, and current political crises." O. . .k. . . So, 1. What does that long-winded trip around a thesaurus mean? And 2. What, exactly, is the "allegorical narrative" they're trying to convey in this video?
Then there's the official website of My Barbarian, which is, if you can believe it, less helpful than their Wikipedia page. The pictures on that site lead me to believe that these are, in fact, the same three people in the music video, but that website is in desperate need of a search bar. . .or a site map. . .or a web designer. There is no mention of "Unicorns LA" on their Wiki page or on their website. You'd think that they'd be more proud of this internet sensation and want to take credit for it.
So I turn to you, faithful readers. What is this music video all about? What are they trying to say? And what did this video say to you? Perhaps this is simply a Rorschach test, where everyone sees what they want to see. However, I would appreciate any background information or explanation for Unicorns LA that you could give me.
Help me faithful readers, you're my only hope.

Ok, Go Be a Rube, Goldberg and End Love!
First of all, if you haven't seen the new Old Spice commercial, here it is:
Good stuff. Color me impressed.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's talk about Ok Go. As a band, they're not bad. Their music is fun and catchy. Their music videos, however, are pure genius!
Most people got to know Ok Go when their "Here It Goes Again" treadmill video hit the web. Some got to know them beforehand with their simple, yet impressive, "A Million Ways" video. Well, the Ok Go gang is at it again with these visual masterpieces.
Here's the music video for "This Too Shall Pass:"
The original music video for this song was much simpler, mechanically, and featured the Notre Dame marching band and camouflage. It was done in one take, like many of their music videos, and it's pretty cool, but this new one just plain rocks! I mean, I always find Rube Goldberg machines (deliberately over-engineered machines that perform a very simple task in a very complex fashion) fascinating, but when you put that kind of machine to music, it takes it to a new level of awesome!
Ok Go got people from Syyn Labs and MIT to help construct the machine and they spent about $90,000 doing it! No computers or motors were used, just simple physics. They filled a two-story warehouse with a half-mile course of around 700 pieces. After two months of planning and around four months of designing they were ready for filming.
Filming took place on February 11th and 12th of 2010. It took them around 60 takes to get the footage they needed. Mechanical failures, camera issues and human error all took their turns messing things up. They had a team
In the end, they got the Rube Goldberg machine working all the way through a total of three times on film. However, in order to get the timing right, they had to make a few cuts in the final video. So, yes, they did actually make the machine and yes, it actually does work, but in order to get the best shots, they had to mix a couple takes together.
Now let's move on to their latest video, for their song "End Love:"
Wow.
Ok Go filmed for over 18 hours to get this music video. It was filmed in Echo Park in Los Angeles, California. The mixture of time-lapse, slow-motion and and stop-motion photography is quite impressive. This kind of filming would involve an incredible amount of choreography and practice for both the band and the film crew.
Other things to note, the goose that you can see following the band around is named "Maria." And she, apparently, is a park regular. And finally, the end shot, after the music stops, reportedly shows eight days of footage! It makes me wonder if that was a mistake, like the many times my dad left the video camera on when it was hanging around his neck.
Keep it up, Ok Go! We are all very impressed. Don't pull an M. Night Shyamalan and start sucking after the first few times!

If You're Wondering. . .
When a band releases a single it's supposed to entice you to listen to the rest of the album. Weezer did a good job of this when they released Pork and Beans to get me interested in their red album, and now they've done it again with If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To), which is off their new album, named "Raditude."
Well, Weezer actually won me over BEFORE they released the single, when I saw the cover art of the new album:
I mean, how can you not love that?
Anyway, I thought the song was "a'ight" (as the kids say), but it wasn't until faithful reader, Mikey, showed me the music video that I was sold on the new album. It's a catchy song, but the music video is everything a music video should be. It's got humor, beautiful colors, a hot girl, wanton violence, an interesting story, etc. I'll post it for you below so you can enjoy it as well:
